Wild and Weightless and Abby Chan of Evolve Flagstaff are excited to offer a weekend of backpacking in Sedona, Arizona.


During this 3 day, 2 night excursion, you will be given the opportunity to explore the relationship you have with your body while surrounded by like-minded women. Throughout the weekend you will be led in various workshops designed to build trust in your body and food, reject the negative beliefs and messages that have held you back, and begin to map out and move towards areas of your life that light you up, and bring passion and joy to your life.


Find freedom from creating your own definition of wellness, that comes from a place of joy and compassion. Not from fear and hatred of your body. 

Set off on a 17 mile trip through the Coconino National Forest with a group of supportive and like-minded womxn. No need to plan the logistics we've got you covered. The hike will also be supported by a certified Wilderness First Responder to ease any anxiety around potential trips or falls. 

Throughout the course of the weekend, we will have specific workshops around developing a more trusting and accepting relationship with your body. You will walk away from the weekend with tools and lessons to use on and off the trail. 

Create community with women who are ready to take up space and create a life that is not centered around a number on the scale or the size of their jeans. Get clear on what matters most to you, and gain the confidence to take the next steps in whatever your goals are.  



Whether you are a total beginner or have hundreds of miles under your boots, this trip is for you. Over the weekend we will walk you through the basics of backpacking so you feel prepared for a summer of adventure. We will walk you through packing your backpack, propper hiking etiquette and how to make a bomb backcountry meal. There is nothing like brushing up on your skills to start off a season. 

There is nothing worse than being underprepared in the backcountry. Here is our required gear list for every individual who attends the trip. If you plan on continuing to backpack we recommend purchasing this gear for yourself. We understand that this could be a major investment, if you need to rent gear we are happy to help you rent from a local shop.  (Rental fees not included.)


Trip dates: April 23rd-25th

Set off into the Coconino National Forest where on a 3 day, 2-night adventure on a custom backpacking route from Sterling Pass to Secret Valley. Each day we will hike 3-7 miles, making sure we hike at a pace that works for everyone, and leaving room for plenty of photo opportunities and snack breaks. Each day will be a mixture of therapeutic and experiential workshops and time on the trail. We will make meals together and spend our nights laughing under the stars. 



Kristen Ales, MA, LPCi is a Therapist who specializes in disordered eating and body image. She received her Master's in Wilderness Therapy and has spent years leading outdoor adventure trips around the world.  When Kristen is "out of the office" you will find her skiing up at the mountain, on the river, or exploring hiking trails with her doggo. 


Abby Chan is a Registered Dietitian and Master's in nutrition and dietetics who specializes in helping others re-establish their relationship to food, movement, and their body. When she isn't working with patients you can find her on a trail mountain biking or snuggling her pups.
